Who are the Iversen Practice?

My Associates

Richard Thorpe

Executive Coach

I was a Premiership and International Rugby Player for over a decade.

Since retiring in 2016, I have been a company director for an investment company alongside professional coaching in sport and business.

I hold a CHE in Counselling, a Diploma in Executive Coaching, I am accredited as an Executive Coach, and a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF).

My personal coaching framework brings together my unique experiences from professional sport and business to empower individuals and teams to sustainably perform at their potential.

I have always been fascinated with how to find an ‘edge’ when competing at the highest level. Playing at either No.8 or Flanker in the Rugby Premiership (and only 6ft tall and 100kgs), I was regularly 3-4 inches shorter and 10-15kgs lighter than my opposite number! Finding an edge is how I plied my trade in professional sport. Mastering this enabled me to not only win the Premiership with Leicester Tigers in 2013, but also play in the 2015 Rugby World Cup with Canada.

Since retiring from professional rugby, I have taken the same principles of finding an edge and sustaining peak performance and applied them to business. I have now coached international athletes, special forces operatives, executives and business leaders to sustainably perform at their best.

I am an Ambassador for the Global Next Gen Community (a private group which supports future global business leaders), and a regular speaker at business events on topics ranging from mental health to peak performance. I am also Director of Rugby of National 1 rugby Club Chinnor RFC.

Ultimately, my passion lies in getting the best out of people. My clients and I have a lot of fun together, and would say that whilst I regularly challenge them to reach further than they previously thought possible, they also feel deeply supported and consider me to be an invaluable part of their performance team.

======

“Richard has helped me during a difficult time of transition where I played more than 20 years of professional cricket. I think any time that a sportsman hangs up his boots is a difficult one, and Richard has helped me clarify my thoughts, work out what my next purpose is and how to gain the necessary drive and direction to move forward”.

Nick Compton, Middlesex & England First Class Cricketer

“Simply after sitting down with Richard for one hour, I have so much more clarity of what my next step is".

Conor Gilsenan, Professional Rugby Player, London Irish

“Richard has been invaluable in helping me establish my own identity and purpose. Having been a member of a very successful family, I had always found it hard to make my own impact. Richard showed me how to take ownership of my life, and I now feel in control of my own future.”
